GDC attendance up from last year.

via GameSpot

It seems that in the aftermath of the downsizing and splintering of E3, that all of the other video game conferences are getting bigger. The Game Developers Conference in San Fransisco last week saw an increase of over two thousand attendees from last year. The Tokyo Game Show, Leipzig Game Convention, and The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas have all seen bigger attendance numbers as well.

Now I wasn’t lucky enough to get to experience the E3 of years past, so I have no frame of reference for the media circus that was apparently. I’ve been told by those lucky enough to witness that insanity that E for All and GDC pale in comparison. Of course, neither of those are really meant for press either, with E for All being for the consumer and GDC being for the developers. I did enjoy them both just the same.
