Maybe not. Really, who knows? Peter Molyneux is infamous for his penchant for hyperbole.
Apparently, gamers who took advantage of an exploit which was recently found in the Xbox Live Arcade release Fable II Pub Games, are in for a nasty surprise when it’s parent title, Fable II comes out this fall.
The exploit allowed gamers who purchased the game in order to preemptively boost their future Fable II character’s wealth before the games release to boost it even further by allowing them to bet big money while actually risking the minimum bid. This caused some concerns for the game’s economy, even though Peter Molyneux, the game’s designer, said that a million gold pieces would only get you “a really nice house”.
In a recent chat with IGN, Molyneux mentioned that a “nasty surprise” that was in store for those who took advantage of the exploit which he also said was “no accident”. Now this is definitely open to speculation. This whole thing could have totally been a meta game, predetermining the player’s moral level on a much deeper scale than what we saw in the original Fable. Or, it could just be that old Peter’s talkin’ out of his ass again like he’s been know to do from time to time.
However, I kinda wanna think that it was a really good trick put in place beforehand, because if you think about how the actual glitch worked, it is a pretty obvious exploit. Almost sloppy. A little too sloppy.
Anywho, I guess we’ll just have to find out once Fable II is released in the next couple of weeks.

I have a strong feeling that corruption is going to play a big part in the future of the Pubs Game glitch. The fact that you have an enormous amount of wealth from the glitch or the fact that you glitched at all and how often might add to your corruption once the game comes out. I’m not worried though. Gamers will find a way around this. Maybe combining a glitching gambler with a non glitching gambler together will nullify the glitch (as the non glitching gambler was in a way given the spoils of the glitcher) and we won’t have to worry about any ‘surprise’ in store for us. But that may just be a pipe dream of mine.
